First structural biology meeting for East China held in Hangzhou

The first session of Structural Biology Conference for East China and 19th Shanghai Web Conference for Structural Biology Cooperation convened from April 22 - 23, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
Organized by the Biophysics Society of Shanghai and Zhejiang University's Life Sciences Institute, the event has attracted nearly 250 science workers from 36 institutes and college research teams, including National Center for Protein Science (Shanghai), Tsinghua University and Fudan University.
Twenty-five reports were delivered by university teachers and graduates, and researchers from labs and event sponsors. It was a ideal platform for them to display their latest achievements and a perfect opportunity to have effective communications with others.
Prof. Gao Ning, of Peking University, deliberated on structural aspects of ribosome biogenesis and translation control.
Huang Yihua, from Institute of Biophysics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), gave a report titled Visualizing the Biogenesis of Outer Membrane of Gram-negative Bacteria.
Jin Tengchuan, from the University of Science and Technology of China, shared a new expression system to enhance MBP-mediated crystallization.
After reports, there were heated discussions before an appraisal by experts chose four young reporters for excellence awards and bonuses, granted by Biophysics Society of Shanghai.
