Science Conference on Nanozyme held in Beijing
Themed Research on the Catalytic Mechanism and Application of Nanozyme, the 606th colloquium of Xiangshan Science Conference was held in Beijing from October 12 to 13.
More than 40 experts from different universities and research institutes were invited to attend the colloquium.

The nanozyme was found by the Chinese scientist in 2007. Ever since, nanozyme has aroused the interest and attention of scientists from all over the world.
Currently, more than 40 kinds of nanozyme have been successively discovered. Its applied research has expanded to various fields such as biology, medicine, agriculture, environmental improvement and national defense, gradually forming new nanozyme research fields.
Moreover, in recent years the application of nanozyme has extended to therapy in vivo from in vitro diagnosis. To discuss the research in fields related to nanozyme, promote the development of the related products and make the line of nanozyme products for which China has independent intellectual property rights come into the market, then unfold a new area of nanozyme application, the experts held in-depth discussions on the issues of nanozyme mechanism, controllable preparation of nanozyme and its application.
The experts agreed that research on nanozyme has achieved remarkable results after the developments through a decade. Currently, the key problem is figuring out its working principle and learning from nature, and realizing the precise control of nanozyme in life process. Solving this problem can give impetus to the application of nanozyme and also advance the development of nano science and traditional enzymology.
Professor Zhang Xianen pointed out in his report that Chinese scholars led in nanozyme research, with 70 percent of the research papers and 80 percent of the highly cited papers belonging to the Chinese scholars. In the past decade, the top ten highly cited papers were written by Chinese scholars.
Academician Wang Erkang called for arrangement of major projects and tasks so as to maintain China’s lead position in nanozyme research which are discovered by Chinese scientists and recognized by international counterparts.
During the summary presentation, Yan Xiyun said that nanozyme research is regarding the inner connection between enzymatic characteristics and physicochemical property, helping people better understand the molecular mechanism of natural and chemical enzyme catalysis, and then design nanozyme with high performance and apply it to various fields. The aim of the research is to have precise control on living activity and gain knowledge on nanometer effect that is ubiquitous in the origin of life and life process.
This conference gathered experts from various fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, materials and theoretical calculation, summing up the achievements of nanozyme research in the past decade and also specifying future research content and target. With this opportunity, scientists gained deeper understanding of nanozyme catalysis rules, which serves human health and the living environment.
