Rao presides over forum on scientific journals

Rao Zihe, president of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) was invited to preside over a closed-door meeting of the First World Scientific Journals Forum in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province on May 25.
The forum, as part of the 20th Annual Meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology, attracted more than 40 chief editors and representatives of leading scientific journals at home and aboard to discuss the development of first-class journals.
Rao, also the chief editor of Protein & Cell, served as the director of the academic committee of the closed-door meeting.
Valda J. Vinson, deputy chief editor of the top-tier scientific journal Science, Philip Campbell, chief editor of Nature, one of the most prestigious scientific journals, and other representatives from big-name journals made keynote speeches during the meeting.
They also discussed ways to attract the best contributors to their publications and their efforts to stand at the forefront of science and technology.
Protein & Cell was established by the Higher Education Press of BSC and the National Institute of Biological Sciences of China’s Academy of Sciences (CAS). It is an international academic journal focused on the latest research achievements and topics in fields like biotechnology and clinical medicine.
Since its establishment in 2010, the journal has continued to provide a route for talented young researchers around the world to publish their scientific findings for free, under the principles of fairness and impartiality.
