Forum on metabolic diseases held in Nanjing

The first international forum on obesity, lipid metabolism and metabolic diseases was held in Nanjing from April 6 to 7.
The forum was organized by the branch of metabolic diseases of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), the endocrinology department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University (FAHNMU) and the metabolic diseases experiment office of Nanjing Medical University (NMU).
It aims to build a platform for experts and scholars to exchange views on the latest findings and trends of lipid metabolism, metabolic diseases and clinical studies on obesity and lipid metabolism.
Invited experts at the forum included Zhou Hongwen, chairperson of the BSC's branch of metabolic diseases; Chen Runsheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Liu Pingsheng, director-general of the BSC; Yang Tao, director of the endocrinology department at FAHNMU; Zhan Yiyang, deputy director of FAHNMU; Evan David Rosen, director of the endocrinology and metabolism department at Harvard Medical School; and Jay Horton, director of the human nutrition department at Southwest Medical Center, University of Texas.
Prestigious figures in the field, from both China and abroad expressed their opinions during the forum, allowing a robust exchange of ideas.
Zhou Hongwen, chairperson of the forum, revealed plans for the future of BSC's branch of metabolic diseases.
She also awarded letters of appointment to the committee members and expressed her hopes that more fellows would join them to work on public health projects.
