The 12th Symposium on Calcium Signaling in China (SCSC) was held in Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning province on July 18.

More than 30 foreign experts from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, as well as 150 renowned Chinese researchers participated in the event.

The topics discussed included advanced methods of detecting calcium signals, calcium signaling in health and disease, and ion channels in new drug development.

The latest research achievements presented at the symposium are expected to give renewed impetus to the development of calcium signaling research in Shenyang.

The event concluded on July 22.

SCSC is a biennial academic conference organized by scientists from China and abroad. It was initiated in Xuzhou in 1987 and was held every three years until 1999. Since 2006, the symposium has been held every two years, following the pattern of Gordon Conferences.
