The 17th International Conference on the Crystallization of Biological Macromolecules (ICCBM17) and the 6th Annual iHuman Forum concluded at ShanghaiTech University, on Nov 2.

Sponsored by the iHuman Institute of ShanghaiTech University, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) and the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), the six-day conference attracted over 530 delegates from universities, research institutes, and businesses, with attendees traveling from more than 20 countries.

The conference was divided into three workshops and eight seminar sessions with the aim of discussing the latest developments and theoretical practices in the field of bio-macromolecule crystallization; and 37 well-known structural biologists and biophysicists were invited to give speeches at the event.

At the same time, seven young scholars from China and abroad presented their latest research achievements in speeches. A total of 49 attendees showed off their research achievements with the aid of specially-designed posters.

At the closing ceremony, iHuman's founding directors, Professor Ray Stevens and Professor Liu Zhijie presented the first "iHuman Structure of Life Award" to Professor Hendrickson. This award is presented to scientists from around the world who have made outstanding contributions to the structural biology community.

The success of ICCBM17 is expected to play a significant role in promoting progress and development in the field of bio-macromolecule crystallization.
