The 7th International Ion Channel Conference is set to open at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, in Zhejiang province, on June 16.

The event will conclude on June 20. Renowned scientists and academicians from the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia and other countries will attend the conference.

The conference includes plenary lectures, reports and poster exhibitions.

Participants will discuss subjects focusing on ion channel research. Ion channels are membrane proteins that modulate the flux of ions across cell membranes, and play fundamental roles in a variety of functions throughout the body.

The conference -- an academic event organized by scientists from home and abroad  biennially -- aims to offer an international and high-level platform for experts, scholars and researchers in ion channels to exchanges ideas and learn about the latest scientific achievements.

It has been held in the cities of Dalian, Harbin, Shanghai, Shi Jiazhuang, Luzhou, and the port city of Qingdao.
