Updated: 2019-11-29
The 5th Chinese Workshop for Structural Biologists was organized from Nov 23 to 28 at the Institute of Biophysics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University.
The event was co-hosted by Thermo Fisher Scientific Co Ltd and Biophysical Society of China (BSC).
It was chaired by Professor Wang Hongwei from Tsinghua University, Sun Fei from the Institute of Biophysics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Marc Storms from Thermo Fisher Scientific Co Ltd.
This training course attracted many applicants to register, and a total of 80 students were selected by the organizing committee.
Nearly 10 experts with rich experience in the field of cryo-electron microscopy, gave lectures and detailed the development history, basic concepts, working principles, operating methods of the transmission electron microscope, and the 3D reconstruction of the cryo-electron microscope.
They offered comprehensive and systematic cryo-electron microscopy theory training for the participants.
In the free discussion session after the lectures, the experts answered the questions proposed by the participants, and also shared their experiences in cryo-electron microscopy to help solve practical problems.
This training course aims to provide structural biology researchers with explanations of cryo-electron microscopy techniques to help them master the basic skills of using cryo-electron microscopy.
The 80 participants were able to communicate with engineers with long-term training experience of electron microscope and data processing techniques from renowned scientific institutes. They successfully completed the training courses and obtained certificates of completion.
