An important rating of Protein & Cell -- the journal of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) -- broke through an index rating of 10 for the first time in 2019 to reach 10.164, according to a key report published by American Thomson Reuters on June 29.

According to the group's Journal Citation Report, the new rating for Protein & Cell in 2019 ranked it 19th globally among 195 Science Citation Journals in cell biology, up 11 places from the previous year and ranking it seventh among all SCI journals on the Chinese mainland.

The SCI index is a prestigious international rating survey compiled annually by Thomson Reuters, which covers more than 8,500 notable and significant journals, across 150 disciplines.

The English-language academic journal Protein & Cell was co-founded by the BSC, the Higher Education Press and the Beijing Institute of Life Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in January 2010.

The journal, which is published monthly in both print and online formats, insists on non-profit publication in the form of open access and its publishers say it strives to contribute to science communications in China and the world.

At the same time, the journal insists on the timely and impartial publication of controversial scientific research achievements by Chinese scientists and sets out to improve the influence of Chinese scholars in the world.

In addition, the journal's feature column called Recollection introduces to scholars all over the world the deeds of outstanding biologists and major events in the field of life sciences in China over the past century.
