Biography

1979-1982 BSc, Medical Sciences, Henan Medical University

1983-1989 Assistant and Associate, Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

1989-1993 MD, Microbiology and Immunology, Heidelberg University, Germany

1994-1996 Post-doctoral studies, Immunology, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, USA

1997- now Professor, selected for 100 Talents Program, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Yan Xiyun is director of the Nano-enzyme Engineering Laboratory. The laboratory has been designed to organize and coordinate research forces with the CAS and regional institutes.

This is to engage in the studies of nano-enzyme catalytic mechanisms and applications, make progress in key technologies related to nano-enzyme engineering-oriented production, promote social and economic development and meet the needs of major national strategies concerning public health.

Yan said: "The predecessors of the BSC have a common characteristic: that is, they attach great importance to the excellent tradition of 'running society in all directions and with democracy'. This is the basic element to maintaining the healthy development of the BSC and the core of the society as a home for biophysical workers".
