The first session of the 12th branch secretary-general conference of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Representatives from the BSC board of directors and board of supervisors and delegates from 35 academic subgroups and working committees attended the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Zhang Hong, vice-president and secretary-general of the BSC.

The first session of the 12th BSC branch secretary-general conference is held at the Institute of Biophysics of the CAS.

Zhang gave a speech on the development and planning of the BSC, elaborating on subgroup and working committee management, academic exchange activities, membership services and science popularization.

He noted that the innovative academic exchange activities carried out by branches of the society in the post-pandemic era had promoted the development of the discipline. He also confirmed the accomplishments achieved in science popularization in the past two years.

Zhang said the society will provide opportunities for member experts to diffuse scientific knowledge, serve remote areas, and assist in science and technology literacy strengthening and talent training in the next phase.

Xu Wenli, director of the BSC general office, summarized the work of the secretariat. 

She explained the branch evaluation mechanism and academic conference management platform to secretaries-general and reported on the BSC member information security and membership system upgrade in the past year.

Secretaries-general and directors of academic subgroups and working committees exchanged views on academic conference brand building, science popularization audience development and science popularization product promotion.

Ma Li, deputy secretary-general of the BSC, said the society will provide support in academic services, industrial services and science popularization construction in the future.

In a concluding speech, Zhang thanked the secretaries-general for their suggestions, reiterated the secretariat’s missions, and welcomed advice and suggestions for the development of the BSC.
