BSC science popularization activities in full swing

Updated: 2022-04-14

The Biophysical Society of China (BSC) has launched a subgroup for middle school biology education in 2021, bringing together more than 100 teachers engaged in basic biology education.

To provide biology teachers with more scientific support, BSC launched in March Scientists’ Reply 2022, a series of science popularization activities.

The event has received more than 50 questions, covering the four categories: cell and molecule, animal and plant physiology, homeostasis and modern biotechnology. The questions were posed by biology teachers from senior high schools in China.

Scientists’ Reply 2022 aims to call on BSC experts to provide cutting-edge scientific support to teachers, enhance teenagers' interests in biology and give authoritative explanations for both teachers and students. There are 10 episodes in the first season of Scientists’ Reply 2022, and the seven aired episodes attracted wide participation from BSC subgroups and science and technology workers.

The middle school biology education subgroup is BSC’s first working committee with teachers in the basic education stage as the main group.

The subgroup has Liu Enshan, professor of Beijing Normal University, as its president and provincial-level teaching and research personnel in key regions of the country as directors and executive directors. With the goal of helping teachers connect scientists and teenagers, the subgroup supports teachers to enhance quality education and improve teenagers' scientific literacy.
