A forum on active health monitoring and the industrial development of sports-medicine integration was held in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang province, on Nov 12.

The forum, supervised by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and hosted by the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), attracted more than 200 professionals in the sport and medical fields on-site.

They delivered speeches and exchanged views on the development of the health industry powered by sports-medicine integration and offered suggestions for the planning and implementation of sports-medicine integration.

Zhang Hong, a research fellow at the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and vice-president and secretary-general of the BSC, addressed the forum via video link. He extended a warm welcome to the attending guests on behalf of the host.

Zhang said, as a member of the CAST, the BSC has fully implemented the requirements of Innovation China. With the support of the Hangzhou Association for Science and Technology, the society has leveraged its interdisciplinary resources and high-quality sports medicine experts, boosted the development of the local sports-medicine integration industry, strengthened non-medical health intervention, and promoted physical activities among key groups.

The Sports Medicine Academic Subgroup of the society has long promoted the combination of sports science and medical technology to improve public health, Zhang said, adding that this forum presented a case of the health industry’s development having benefited from sports-medicine integration.
