Chinese Biophysics Congress concludes

The 2022 Chinese Biophysics Congress concluded online on Dec 4.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Zhang Hong, vice-president and secretary-general of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) and a research fellow at the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
The congress consisted of 17 academic sessions, one featured forum and two enterprise workshops, and attracted 970 registered participants, 11 exhibitors, six plenary speakers and 201 reporters. The three-day meeting registered a total of 200,000 views, with the six plenary reports garnering 3,280 views.
The conference hosted the China-Japan Joint Session — Unconventional Membrane Trafficking, Innovative Thinking — with the Biophysical Society of Japan, which was followed by an audience of 930.

The evaluation of the first Excellent Scientific Research Achievement Award for Female Scientists was launched at the meeting, and the 28 shortlisted candidates were invited to share their research findings.
Xiao Ruiping, president of the Female Scientists Academic Subgroup of the BSC, announced the list of winners, which included three first-prize winners, five second-prize winners, 10 third-prize winners, and 10 excellent prize winners. The award ceremony will be held at the 2023 Chinese Biophysics Congress, Xiao said.

Winners of the Excellent Poster Award were unveiled at the closing ceremony by Shi Yunyu, a CAS academician and professor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). They were Wu Zhaofa from Peking University, Fan Hongcheng from the Institute of Biophysics of the CAS, Wang Qian from Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Li Zongqiang from Tsinghua University.

In his closing speech, Xu Tao, president of the BSC and a CAS academician, thanked participating scholars for their support and announced Changsha in Central China’s Hunan province would be the venue for the 20th Chinese Biophysics Congress.
