Conference on electron microscopy held

The 2022 Conference on Technology Exchange of the Electron Microscopy Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was held from Dec 22 to 24.
With a theme of electron microscopy and life sciences, the conference was hosted by the CAS Electron Microscopy Association and the Biophysical Society of China. It attracted more than 300 experts, scholars and business representatives, and was broadcast on NetEase Yaotai, an immersive virtual event platform, Tencent Meeting and other livestreaming platforms, where it garnered a total of 2,560 viewers.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Sun Fei, a researcher at the Institute of Biophysics of the CAS.

Subsequent to the opening speeches, professors and researchers from renowned universities and research institutions gave academic reports on such topics as advanced imaging technology in materials, multi-scale imaging of plant cell structures, basic research on dimers and activated structures of mGluR, and interference and cryogenic single-molecule localization microscopy.

The conference covered six topics and hosted 33 speakers engaged in scientific research, technical support and platform management, who delivered thematic reports on the frontiers of electron microscopy, Cryo-EM and its application, preparation and innovation of electron microscope samples, functional development and research on electron microscope equipment, electron microscope image analysis, and platform operation and management of biological electron microscopy.

The meeting included an exhibition program with virtual booths for the 10 member units of the CAS Electron Microscopy Association and eight exhibitors, and featured workshops and themed science popularization activities to improve public literacy in electron microscopy.
