BSC inaugurates education base at High School Affiliated to Fudan University

On March 21, the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), Fudan University and the High School Affiliated to Fudan University signed an agreement on building a science popularization education base at the high school, in East China's Shanghai.

At the signing ceremony, Liu Pingsheng, director-general of the BSC, reviewed the society’s cooperation with the School of Life Sciences at Fudan University and the High School Affiliated to Fudan University.

Liu said that in the completion of the base, the BSC will work together with the two sides to organize more activities and ensure its complete operation. He also invited students from the high school to visit laboratories at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and experience the charm of science.

As a partner in the science popularization education base project, the School of Life Sciences boasts quality resources and has established long-term cooperation with the high school. It will channel more science popularization resources into the high school and build a bridge for its students to fully embrace science in collaboration with the BSC, according to officials from Fudan.

Wu Jian, principal of the high school, announced the opening of the base and unveiled its nameplate along with Liu, Hu Bo, a professor at Fudan University, and Wang Tiehua, executive vice-principal of the high school.

Subsequent to the inaugural ceremony, Liu delivered a report, in which he briefed participants on the latest research progress in life sciences and topics of concern, and called on students to uncover the mysteries of life sciences.

Over the years, the BSC has intensified efforts to advance the building of science popularization bases, allocated resources to raise adolescents’ sci-tech literacy, and encouraged them to embrace, love, learn and apply science.
