Scientists gather in Huangshan to exchange ideas on nation’s new progress in life sciences

The Symposium on China’s 2022 Top 10 Achievements in Life Sciences and the Youth Science Popularization Lecture kicked off in Huangshan, East China’s Anhui province, on Apr 8, in a move to bolster studies on life sciences and showcase major scientific and technological accomplishments to appeal young people’s passion for technological innovation.

Hosted by the China Union of Life Science Societies and organized by the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), the meetings attracted more than 200 participants, including a number of academicians and officials from the local government and institutions in Huangshan, with 730,000 people watching and interacting online.

Leaders of the 2022 top 10 projects in life sciences were invited to share new technologies in life sciences, new breakthroughs in medicine and latest progress made in frontier bio-economy.

Zhang Hong, vice-president and secretary-general of the BSC, said that the events have offered an important platform for the universal popularization of life sciences. By bringing together leading frontline scientists, experts and scholars with young lovers of life sciences, the activities will help build a science-loving society and boost the cultivation of young professionals.

The symposiums and lectures have greatly enhanced the social impact of life sciences and related technologies. The events have also brought about opportunities for scientists and entrepreneurs to engage in more extensive cooperation in various fields of life sciences, and have promoted the closer integration of science, technology with local economy, according to the organizers.
