Biophysics Reports indexed in global academic literature and citation databases
Updated: 2023-07-05
Biophysics Reports, an English-language journal co-hosted by the Biophysical Society of China and the Institute of Biophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and using the full open access publication mode since its launch, was recently included in two prestigious databases, namely, PubMed Central (PMC) and Scopus.
This development underscores the growing international recognition and visibility of the journal in the scientific community.
As an international English journal, Biophysics Reports mainly covers new theories, technologies and methods in life sciences, offering a global exchange platform for China’s studies in bioscientific technologies and methods.
The journal covers a broad range of disciplines within life sciences, featuring such sections as Review, Research Article, Method, Protocol and Opinion. Notably, the Review and Research Article sections provide overviews and updates on scientific progress, while the Method section encourages the publication of methodological studies, and the Protocol section presents detailed experimental procedures refined from important research studies.
PMC, established by the National Center for Biotechnology Information at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in February 2000, serves as a comprehensive repository of full-text articles from life science journals. The database is dedicated to archiving NLM’s extensive print journal collection and providing an open access free of charge for scientific literature worldwide.
Scopus, launched by Elsevier at the end of 2004, is the largest abstract and citation database globally. It encompasses nearly 23,000 sources from over 5,000 publishers worldwide, offering researchers a one-stop platform to access scientific literature.
In 2016, Elsevier introduced the journal impact index known as CiteScore, which provides a comprehensive assessment of a journal's academic influence, similar to the traditional impact factor.
