Session 3: Metabolic diseases: Regulation, mechanisms and interventions

Updated: 2023-07-21

Metabolic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and cardiovascular disease, have caused great harm to human health, and have become important public health issues threatening the lives and well-being of the Chinese population.

This session, which will be held by the Metabolic Biology Academic Subgroup of the Biophysical Society of China and undertaken by the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University in Hunan province, aims to promote further academic exchanges, cooperation and development of metabolic research in China. The topics of the session will include: pathogenesis and interventions of obesity and related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, complications of diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, the regulation and mechanisms of immunity, nutrition and gut microbiota in maintaining energy homeostasis, network regulation of metabolic homeostasis and the discovery and identification of new targets and mechanisms, as well as the exploration of new targets in metabolic research, novel cytokines and hormones, new regulatory mechanisms, and the establishment of new methods and technologies.

The session will invite well-known experts to explore major scientific and clinical issues in metabolism research from basic to clinical perspectives and share innovative and leading research achievements in recent years in glucose and lipid metabolism disorders, energy imbalance and organ damage.
