Yang Zhenglin

Yang Zhenglin is dedicated to clinical work and scientific research on molecular diagnosis and genetics. His research group has been selected as an innovative team studying the main causes of vision impairment in a key program launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and an innovative research unit independent from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. 

While focusing on clinical diagnostics, Yang has also made systematic and innovative achievements in the pathogenesis, molecular diagnosis, and prevention of retinal diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration. 

Yang has published 191 SCI papers in journals such as Science, NEJM, Nat Genet, JCI, AHJG, and PNAS, and has been in charge of key research and development programs of the MOST, as well as innovative and major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. 

Yang has been highly recognized within the industry, having been awarded second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Awards once, and first prize in the Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Awards four times as the chief researcher. 

He holds 23 national invention patents, and has been the recipient of several prestigious awards and honors, including the national fund for distinguished young scholars, a leading personnel in the National Special Support Plan for High-level Talents, the innovation award of the C. C. Tan Life Science Awards, the Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Award, and the Wu Jieping-Paul Janssen Medical and Pharmacy Award.

For nine consecutive years from 2014 to 2022, Yang has been listed as one of China's most highly-cited researchers. He served as the chair of the eighth International Conference on Genomics of Human Diseases held by Nature Genetics journal and is currently the president of the Clinical Molecular Diagnosis Academic Subgroup of the Biophysical Society of China, as well as the nominated director of the Chinese Society of Medical Genetics of the Chinese Medical Association. He is also expected to become vice-president of the Eighth Council of the Sichuan Medical Association.
