Session 15: Phenomics and human health: Evidence, mechanisms, and prevention
Updated: 2023-07-28
The Phenomics Academic Subgroup of the Biophysical Society of China, established in July 2019, is an academic and popular science social group formed voluntarily by phenomics workers in China. The purpose of the subgroup is to pool the research advantages of domestic universities, research institutes, medical institutions and the industry, cultivate phenomics talents, and achieve significant breakthroughs in plant, animal, and human phenomics. It also looks to support decision-making for crop breeding, cultivation, and agricultural practices; elucidate the whole-genome function, phenotypic formation and associative network of mammals; facilitate basic research on disease pathogenesis and therapy development; lead new directions and trends in technology; gather world-class industrial innovation forces; and have a voice in phenomics on the international stage. The subgroup is committed to promoting and popularizing phenome knowledge, prevention-oriented health concepts, and the concept of a community of common health for mankind, as well as to supporting the International Science Plan for Human Phenomics.
Participants at this session will discuss the construction, research and planning of such cohorts as natural populations, people with major diseases and special talent to conduct the precise measurement of human phenotypes throughout the life cycle, in all directions, and from a multi-omics perspective. It will also clarify the dynamic evolution and the cross-scale, cross-temporal and cross-spatial correlation pattern of phenomes; reveal the phenotypic characteristics of healthy and sub-healthy population, patients and special talents; and deconstruct the internal mechanisms and interaction networks of genes and environments that affect human phenotypes. The session aims to draw the world’s first navigation map of human phenomes and further explore the micromechanisms and interactions of health and diseases.
Experts at the session will share and disseminate the latest research results related to phenomics and human health and help basic researchers, clinical scientists and doctors acquire and integrate cutting-edge advances in the field, thereby promoting technological dissemination, exchanges and cooperation, and helping China take the lead in the revolutionary development of phenomics and the life and health industry.
