BSC Photobiophysics Academic Committee holds annual meeting in Kunming

The Annual Meeting of the Photobiophysics Academic Committee of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) & the 10th China Photobiology Academic Conference took place in Kunming, Yunnan province, from Sept 26 to 28.
The event brought together prominent researchers and experts in the field of photobiophysics to exchange knowledge and discuss their latest research advancements.

The conference opened with a welcome address by Dong Yuhui, vice-director of the Institute of High Energy Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and chair of the BSC Photobiophysics Academic Committee. In his speech, Dong emphasized the importance of international collaboration and deepening exchanges among experts and scholars from around the world to enhance the global impact of China’s photobiophysics research.

The conference featured presentations on such topics as upconversion fluorescence-enabled ultra-long timescale low phototoxicity super-resolution imaging, the role played by nanomaterials in radiosensitization, the reversible switching of photoprotection, the ultrafast dynamics in photosynthetic exciton energy dissipation, advancements in X-ray imaging technology and time-resolved small-angle X-ray scattering at beamline BL19U2.
The conference was a significant gathering of experts and scholars, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchanges in the field of photobiophysics. It has advanced research and opened up new horizons in the ever-evolving domain of biophysics, leaving an indelible mark on the international stage, said participants.
