Academic conference on exercise and health held in Wuhan

Hosted by Wuhan Sports University (WSU) and the Academic Subgroup of Exercise and Public Health of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), a conference on exercise and health took place at WSU from Oct 22 to 25. 

At the opening ceremony, Wang Ru, president of BSC’s Academic Subgroup of Exercise and Public Health, dean of the School of Exercise and Health at Shanghai University of Sport and a distinguished professor on the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, introduced the remarkable achievements of the subgroup since its inception. 

The subgroup is willing to establish close collaboration with WSU, and leverage the resources and advantages of the BSC to support the university in talent development, technological innovation, academic advancement, disciplinary construction and social services, Wang said.

The conference included plenary sessions with keynote presentations, special reports on sports and health promotion, discussions on the frontier development of sports and health sciences, and sub-forums on public health and exercise intervention. 

It highlighted China's latest achievements in the field of sports and health, and showcased the country's openness, cooperation, knowledge sharing, and innovative development to the world, setting a benchmark for research collaboration in the global exercise and public health domain.

In his concluding remarks at the closing ceremony, Chen Ning, vice-president of BSC’s Academic Subgroup of Exercise and Public Health and a professor at WSU, mentioned that the field of sports and health is currently in a fast-developing strategic period, with great potential for interdisciplinary research. 

He expressed his hope for deepening cooperation with global partners and pledged continued support for international cooperation, knowledge sharing, technological innovation, and the advancement of research in the global sports and public health field. 

Held under the theme "Health, Sports, Innovation and Future", the conference featured a distinguished lineup of renowned experts, scholars and professors, including academicians with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Distinguished Young Scholars, and Chang Jiang Scholars. 

These experts, representing six countries, led a multidisciplinary collaboration to explore key scientific questions and core technologies related to targeted exercise interventions for health promotion, disease prevention and recovery, igniting a new wave of interdisciplinary exchange.
