In a recent announcement, the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the advancement of science in developing countries revealed the addition of 47 new fellows to its prestigious roster, including two distinguished experts from the Biophysical Society of China (BSC).

Among the newly elected fellows in biological sciences is Yan Xiyun, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and a researcher at the CAS Institute of Biophysics. Yan has made significant contributions to the field of tumor immunology and engaged in research on the catalytic mechanisms and applications of nanozymes. Beyond her academic achievements, Yan holds key positions within the BSC, serving as vice-president and executive council member of the ninth and 10th councils and executive council member of the 11th council.

Another luminary figure added to the list is Ma Guanghui, a CAS academician and researcher at the CAS Institute of Process Engineering. Ma was selected as a fellow in the engineering & computer sciences category and her primary research focus lies in the preparation of size-controllable and structure-controllable bioparticles, as well as their applications in biological separation and formulation engineering. Ma is also a BSC member. 

The inclusion of these two eminent scientists in the TWAS roster highlights the significant strides that Chinese researchers are making in various scientific disciplines. Their expertise in biological sciences, nanozyme catalysis and bioseparation technologies showcases the impactful contributions China is making to global scientific advancements.
