BSC experts honored with Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prizes

Fifty-six outstanding sci-tech workers were granted the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Awards on Dec 19.
Among the winners were three members of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), specifically Luo Qingming and Lin Shengcai, academicians with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who received the prize in science and technology progress, and Lou Zhiyong, a professor at Tsinghua University, who was honored with the prize in science and technology innovation.
This year's science and technology progress prize was granted to 32 exceptional scientists who have made significant discoveries or outstanding contributions in such fields as physics, chemistry, life sciences and engineering technology. The science and technology innovation prize was presented to 23 outstanding individuals.

Luo Qingming [Photo/WeChat account: BSC]
Luo is a member of the academic committee of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, president of Hainan University, and chairman of the Hainan Association for Science and Technology. He also serves as director of the teaching guidance committee for biomedical engineering in higher education institutions under the Ministry of Education.
Luo has long been dedicated to researching new technologies and methods in biomedical photonics and biological imaging.
Lin Shengcai [Photo/WeChat account: BSC]
Lin is a professor at the School of Life Sciences of Xiamen University, and an advisor to the BSC Metabolic Biology Academic Subgroup.
Lin focuses on the regulation of cellular metabolic homeostasis in which area he explores the perception of cells towards nutrients and energy as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying the occurrence and development of diseases related to metabolic disorders. He has generated a series of original achievements.

Lou Zhiyong [Photo/WeChat account: BSC]
Lou is a distinguished professor of the Changjiang Scholars program, a member of the 10th national committee of the China Association for Science and Technology, and an executive council member of the BSC.
His primary research areas include the molecular mechanisms involved in the infection and replication of highly pathogenic viruses, their interactions with hosts, and the means of regulating virus life processes. He has achieved a series of influential innovative research achievements.
The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Awards continue to spotlight and honor those individuals whose groundbreaking contributions significantly impact the fields of science and technology.
