A conference that combined the National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Award Conference, the 21st General Assembly of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the 17th General Assembly of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was held in Beijing on June 24. 

For 2023, the National Science and Technology Award selected 2 recipients for the Highest Science and Technology Award, 49 projects for the State Natural Science Award, 62 projects for the State Technological Invention Award, 139 projects for the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award and 10 recipients for the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People's Republic of China.

Among the distinguished recipients, prominent members of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), including executive council members Chen Lingling, Hu Hailan and Zhu Bing, were honored for their outstanding contributions. A number of experts affiliated with the society were also recognized for their exceptional work in advancing scientific knowledge and technological innovation.
