Wang Xiaochen, who holds a PhD degree, is a chair professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
Wang served as a researcher and a senior researcher at the National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing, from 2006 to 2016, and as a researcher at the Institute of Biophysics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), from 2016 to 2023. In 2023, she joined SUSTech.
Wang's research primarily focuses on the regulation mechanisms and physiological functions of lysosome homeostasis using C. elegans as a model, as well as the lysosome-mediated clearance of apoptotic cells.
Her research achievements have been published in internationally renowned academic journals such as Nature, Science, Nature Cell Biology, Development Cell, Current Biology, Journal of Cell Biology, ELife, PLoS Biology and PNAS.
Wang has been honored as an international early career scientist by Howard Hughes Medical Institute and as a young and middle-aged leading scientific and technological innovation talent by the Ministry of Science and Technology. She also received the 10th Chinese Young Women in Science Fellowship.
Wang has been selected for the National Baiqianwan Talents Project, the CAS' Hundred Talents Program and the National High-level Talents Special Support Program. She has also received funding from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and served as chief scientist on the National Key Research and Development Program.
