The event, designed to enhance scientific literacy among students in remote areas, was co-hosted by the BSC’s Secondary School Biology Teaching Working Committee, the Academic Subgroup of Hypoxia and Health Sciences and Membrane Biology Academic Subgroup. Almost 150 students and teachers participated in the session.

Lectures were delivered by Wei Taotao, secretary-general of the BSC’s Membrane Biology Academic Subgroup and researcher at the Institute of Biophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Yuan Dongya, president of the Academic Subgroup of Hypoxia and Health Sciences and professor at Xizang Minzu University; and Ye Sheng, deputy director of the Secondary School Biology Teaching Working Committee and professor at Beihang University.
Centered around the basic unit of life, the prevention of common parasitic diseases and AI-empowered life science research, these courses provided students with a solid foundation in life sciences and sparked enthusiasm for further learning.
Launched last year, the Spring Rain Project aims to bring high-quality scientific resources to young people, particularly those in remote regions of western and central China, fostering a long-term interest in life sciences.
Rather than merely skimming the surface, the project prioritizes the innovative and sustainable development of science outreach in remote regions, nurturing young minds with a steady "spring rain" of scientific knowledge and providing ongoing support for local educators.
