Inaugural conference on RNA therapeutics concludes in Yunnan

The inaugural RNA Therapeutics Annual Conference, hosted by the RNA Therapeutics Subgroup of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) and organized by Yunnan University, took place in Kunming, Yunnan province, from Nov 30 to Dec 3.
The conference attracted more than 500 experts and scholars from domestic and international universities, hospitals, research institutes, regulatory agencies and enterprises, facilitating extensive discussions on the latest advancements in RNA therapeutics.
Themed "Frontiers and Challenges in RNA Therapeutics", the event aimed to promote the research and applications of RNA as a novel therapeutic tool in China. It included RNA-related topics such as new editing technologies, vaccines and innovative nucleic acid drug design, novel therapeutic molecules, new therapeutic delivery technologies, challenges and solutions in drug translation and therapeutic targets for major diseases, as well as an industry-academia-research collaboration forum.

Adrian Krainer, a professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory; Zhu Ting, a professor at Westlake University; Xue Yuanchao, a researcher at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Mao Zhenbin, a PhD holder at the National Medical Products Administration, delivered insightful academic reports.
They revealed groundbreaking advances in ASO drug development for H3.3K27M-related DMG, innovative discoveries in mirror-image biology systems, accomplishments in the development and application of new RNA interactome technologies and the pivotal role of regulatory science in guiding the high-quality growth of biomedicine.

The conference featured a Young Scholars Forum, offering a platform for outstanding researchers to present their work under the guidance and feedback of senior RNA experts, and a Cytiva Expert Seminar discussing innovations and future developments in domestic RNA therapeutics.

The first committee meeting of the BSC RNA Therapeutics Subgroup was also held during the conference. The meeting presented the BSC’s letters of appointment to more than 30 experts and scholars, and announced Hefei, Anhui province, as the location for the next RNA therapeutics annual conference.
