Secretary-general meeting of BSC branches held in Beijing

The 2025 secretary-general meeting of the branch organizations of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) was held at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on Feb 22.
The event was attended by Zhang Hong, vice-president and secretary-general of the BSC, Liu Pingsheng, BSC’s director-general, and Ding Guangjin and Ma Li, deputy secretary-generals of the society.
Co-chaired by Liu Pingsheng and Ding Guangjin, the meeting brought together 51 participants, including secretary-generals and representatives from 40 BSC branch organizations.

The meeting featured a work report session, where representatives reviewed the achievements of their branches in 2024 and introduced their plans for 2025. Discussions covered various aspects, including organizational development, academic exchange programs, public science outreach and young talent development.

Following the work reports, Zhang Hong delivered a concluding speech, announcing the evaluation results of the society’s branch organizations for 2024. He also provided guidelines on branch management, academic exchanges and science outreach efforts, while outlining key tasks for 2025.
He advocated for greater participation from female researchers and young scientists and urged BSC branches to reach communities in need, extending science education to rural areas. He also encouraged these branch organizations to actively participate in the society’s outreach events and make full use of science education bases to enhance public engagement.
