Wei is a professor and doctoral advisor at the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Nanjing University (NJU). He is a recipient of China’s National High-level Overseas Talent Recruitment Program and the Excellent Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and principal investigator at the State Key Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry for Life Science, ChemBIC and the Nanozyme Laboratory in Zhongyuan.
Wei earned his bachelor’s degree from NJU’s School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and his PhD from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at both the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Emory University.
Wei’s research focuses on nanozymes, including their rational design and synthesis, in vitro detection and in vivo analysis, along with their regulation of reactive oxygen species for therapeutic purposes. He has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Nature Awards Microbiome Accelerator (2024) and the Dalton Horizon Prizes (2023). Currently, Wei serves as an associate editor for the Chinese Journal of Chemistry.
The Advances in Measurement Science Lectureship Award is jointly presented by five major ACS journals — ACS Sensors, Analytical Chemistry, Journal of Proteome Research, Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry and ACS Measurement Science Au — along with the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry. The annual award recognizes one outstanding scientist each from the Americas, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and the Asia-Pacific region for their significant contributions to the field of measurement science.
Previous Chinese recipients of this prestigious award include Fan Chunhai (2019), Liu Zhen (2020), Yang Chaoyong (2021), Ju Huangxian (2022) and Li Jianfeng (2023).
