Shanghai host inaugural meeting of reproductive genetics branch

The inaugural meeting of the Reproductive Genetics and Offspring Health Branch of the Biophysical Society of China, was held in Shanghai from December 5-7, 2025. Co-hosted with the Shanghai Research Hospital Association's Reproductive Innovation and Transformation Committee, the event was organized by Shanghai First People's Hospital and Shanghai Changzheng Hospital.

Prominent figures, including Dr. Zheng Xingdong, dean of Shanghai First People's Hospital, and several esteemed academicians such as Li Jinsong from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the opening ceremony. Dr. Li Jinsong, president of the new branch, emphasized the strategic importance of research in reproductive genetics and offspring health for enhancing population quality and promoting a healthy China.

The conference featured high-level discussions and presentations, focusing on innovation in reproductive medicine and its clinical applications, coveringtechnological advancements, molecular mechanisms affecting offspring health, and genetic regulatory networks. The event showcased 32 academic reports, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and clinical needs.

Dr. Zhang Hong, chairman of the Biophysical Society of China, congratulated the new branch, highlighting its role in promoting interdisciplinary cooperation and achieving internationally influential results. The conference also stressed the importance of nurturing young talent through academic exchanges and project support.

A notable feature was the "Meet Editors" session, where attendees engaged with editors from top international journals like Cell Research and Nature Communications, discussing publication strategies and research focus areas.

The meeting underscored the theme of building a collaborative platform to advance research in reproductive genetics and offspring health. It demonstrated China's robust research capabilities and original achievements in this field, fostering collaboration between academia and industry to address health challenges.
