3rd National Academic Symposium for Women Scientists in Biomedical Fields concludes in Chengdu

From March 27 to 29, 2026, the 3rd National Academic Symposium for Women Scientists in Biomedical Fields was held in Chengdu, Sichuan province. Co-hosted by the Women Scientists Committees of various Chinese scientific societies and organized by local institutions, the event focused on "Life Sciences and Health Future: Integration and Innovation." It gathered over 160 researchers nationwide to discuss cell fate, disease research, and precision medicine.

The opening ceremony, chaired by Professor Wang Hongyan, celebrated the contributions of women in science. Academician Pei Gang encouraged the integration of emerging technologies like AI for innovation. Xie Xin from the China Women's Science and Technology Workers Association emphasized interdisciplinary collaboration and nurturing young talent. Gao Xiang, chairman of Jiangsu Jicui Yaokang, pledged support for academic exchanges among women scientists.

Keynote speeches from distinguished academicians, including Cao Xiaofeng and Tong Xiaolin, covered topics like plant epigenetics, traditional Chinese medicine, and biotechnological advancements. Over 20 experts presented on fields such as neuroscience, aging, and gene editing, highlighting the symposium's high level of academic exchange.

Young scientists shared innovative research on glioma mechanisms and mitochondrial responses. Flash presentations showcased the creativity and energy of young female scientists, with awards given to outstanding contributors.

In her closing remarks, Professor Wang Hongyan called for continued collaboration to advance biomedical research. The symposium provided a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and innovation, contributing significantly to life sciences development and the Healthy China strategy. The Women Scientists Committee aims to further support women scientists in achieving new scientific milestones.
