Fourth annual meeting of the Biophysical Society of China's Mitochondrial Biology Subcommittee concludes

The Fourth Annual Meeting of the Mitochondrial Biology Subcommittee of the Biophysical Society of China was held from April 6 to 9, 2026, at Wannan Medical College. Organized by the Biophysical Society of China's Mitochondrial Biology Subcommittee, Liangzhu Laboratory, Nankai University, and Jinan University, and hosted by Wannan Medical College, Anhui Medical University, and Mitochondrial Communications, the conference centered on the theme "Mitochondria and Human Health." Nearly 400 researchers from across China gathered to explore cutting-edge topics and promote clinical translation.
The conference featured presentations from four academicians, two international experts, and over 70 leading scholars in mitochondrial research. Notable attendees included Rao Zihe, honorary chairman of the Biophysical Society of China, and Liu Xingguo, president of the Mitochondrial Biology Subcommittee. Xia Jinsong, Party secretary of Wannan Medical College, welcomed participants, emphasizing the importance of mitochondrial biology in disease prevention and public health.
Zhu De'e, a Wuhu Municipal Standing Committee member, highlighted the conference's role in boosting the city's innovation. She assured continued support for academic collaborations to advance life sciences.
Rao Zihe underscored the rapid development of mitochondrial biology and its significance for health and disease treatment. He emphasized the conference's role in fostering international and interdisciplinary exchanges.
The event included keynote speeches, sessions, and a young scholar forum, covering topics like mitochondrial genetics, metabolic regulation, and disease research. The conference also awarded young scientists and recognized outstanding poster presentations, setting a strong foundation for future collaborations and breakthroughs in mitochondrial research.
