Two members of Biophysical Society of China honored with national science and technology awards

On July 8, at the 2025 National Science and Technology Awards ceremony in Beijing, two distinguished members of the Biophysical Society of China were recognized with the National Natural Science Award second prize for their groundbreaking research projects.
Researcher Wang Xiangxi, secretary-general of the Biophysical Society of China, played a pivotal role in the project titled "Mechanisms of Immune Evasion and Mutation Characteristics of the COVID-19 Virus." This research has achieved significant breakthroughs in understanding the virus's immune evasion mechanisms, evolutionary predictions, and the development of broad-spectrum antibodies. These findings have had a substantial impact on the clinical treatment and prevention of COVID-19 infections, marking a critical advancement in the ongoing battle against the virus.
Meanwhile, Researcher Wang Xiaoqun, president of the Single-Cell Omics Subcommittee, led the project "Regulatory Mechanisms of Neural Stem Cell Diversity and Human Brain Development." This study has produced original results with significant theoretical and practical implications, exploring the diversity of human neural stem cells and the regulatory mechanisms of coordinated development across multiple brain regions. The findings lay a crucial foundation for the advancement of brain-like intelligent technologies and the precise diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases.
