In 2019, the Biophysical Society of China, or BSC, set up seven new academic subgroups.

These were the Nano-enzyme Academic Subgroup, the Phenomics Academic Subgroup, Academic Subgroup of Phase Transition and Phase Separation of Biological Macromolecules, the Academic Subgroup of Hypoxia and Health Sciences, Academic Subgroup of Material Biology and Intelligent Diagnosis and Treatment Technology, the Neurobiophysics Academic Subgroup and the Sports Science Academic Subgroup.

In 2019, the number of individual members reached 14,563, an increase of 2,553 over the previous year, realizing growth in membership for 10 consecutive years. There are individual BSC members in all 34 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government. At the same time, local biophysical societies were established in 12 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government.

Membership services in 2019:

1. Enhance the ability to serve members and promote the informatization construction of the society in an all-round way

In 2019, in order to enhance the participation experience of its members, the BSC completed the first stage reform of its membership service system. The membership system has realized synchronous online registration, self-service payments and generation of electronic membership cards on the web and at mobile terminals. At the same time, it optimized the member registration process, expanded the online payment channel for membership fees and further improved membership management and developed information pages on its website, laying a solid foundation for accurate membership services.

The BSC completed the pilot construction of its "Intelligence Society" program, successively completed linking its membership system to the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) system and uploaded its membership data to the CAST information system. The BSC's database of scientific and technological personnel was improved and the plan to promote the informatization of the society was implemented.

2. The BSC has promoted the construction of office informatization and accelerated the development of a financial online reimbursement module, fixed assets module, project management module and personnel management module

3. Forum on career planning for young researchers

The BSC held the sixth forum on career planning for young researchers. Presided over by Zhang Hong, secretary general of the BSC, the forum invited Chen Runsheng, academician of Institute of Biophysics at Chinese Academy of Sciences, or CAS, to give lectures and talk about bioinformatics with young researchers.
